ALMA — One person has been found dead after an Allegany County home was destroyed by an explosion around noon Saturday.

New York State Police at Amity say the blast occurred on County Route 18 in the town. The residence was completely demolished and engulfed. The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and multiple fire departments are on scene.

One deceased body was located in the residence. No causes of death or cause for the residential explosion at this time. The body was removed from the scene and sent to the Medical Examiners for identification.

Police said updated information will be released as investigation continues.
