GERRY – The Reverend Doctor Roberta Mosier-Peterson has been appointed as the pastor of the Gerry Free Methodist Church and will begin her duties today. She and her husband William Mosier-Peterson are moving from Jackson, Kentucky, where she has been the pastor of the Free Methodist Church there for the past five years.

Prior to her tenure in Kentucky, Dr. Mosier-Peterson served as pastor of Free Methodist churches in Abilene, Texas; Kansas City, Kansas; and Vandalia, Illinois. In addition, while in Illinois, she served as a Prevention Educator in a rape crisis center which dealt with issues of sexual assault and family emergencies.

Originally from New Mexico, Dr. Mosier-Peterson began her advanced education with a Bachelor’s degree at Central Christian College in Kansas, followed by a Master of Divinity degree at Brite University on the campus of Texas Christian University. She completed her Doctorate in Ministry in 2016 at Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York. She is an ordained elder of the Free Methodist Church, USA.

Her husband, William (Will) Mosier-Peterson, is a native of Texas and has been serving as the Director of Advancement at the Oakdale Christian Academy in Kentucky. He will continue in that same role from their home in Gerry after their move. They met while both were attending Central Christian College, where she was a volleyball player, and they will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary this June 12.

Will is an avid cyclist who loves baseball, and together they enjoy camping, hiking and spending time outdoors with their dog. Dr. Mosier-Peterson says she and her husband are a team, and they are excited to become acquainted with the area and are looking forward to what God might be able to accomplish through them.

The residents of the town will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the Mosier-Petersons through two “stop and greet” open house events, scheduled for Sunday, March 10, from 2-4 p.m. at the church and Sunday, March 31, 2-4 p.m. at their home. They hope to meet many people from both the church and the town as their goal is to become a vital part of the community.
