Lauer named new Fredonia athletic director
With Athletic Director Scot Stutzman resigning from the Fredonia Central School District, the board had to find someone to take his place, and, at Tuesday’s board of education meeting, officially put the job in the hands of Greg Lauer, effective Feb. 11 through June 30.
“Greg’s been doing a fine job … at our high school, working directly with Mr. (Darrin) Paschke (our high school principal) and Mr. Stutzman,” said Superintendent Paul DiFonzo. “He’s been … working with Scot, working with scheduling, coming to events. He’s well aware of some of the things to do with the athletic department, so he’s a good fit, sliding into that spot.”
After the board passed the motion to officially make Lauer the director, he stood to give a brief statement.
“I’m very excited. People tell me I’m crazy for wanting this position, but I love being a coach here and I’m very excited to kind of get involved with all the teams at Fredonia, so I’m excited to get going with it,” Lauer stated.
“We really appreciate it, and good luck,” DiFonzo responded.
