Here’s where you can view today’s eclipse
Looking for a place to go and view the eclipse in a safe manner? There are two locations to go in northern Chautauqua and southern Erie counties.
They include:
• The Department of Physics will host a viewing event and will have 1,500 pairs of solar glasses for safe viewing of the sun, binoculars set up with solar filters, and a solar telescope set up to provide safe viewing opportunities at the State University of New York at Fredonia. The event will take place in the field behind the Science Center from approximately noon until 4 p.m. (Maximum eclipse is around 2:30 p.m.) There will also be an inflatable solar system for demonstrations of what an eclipse actually is.
• Penn Dixie Fossil Park & Nature Preserve — For this event the organization will have extra telescopes on site, fun hands-on astronomy activities for all ages, and free solar viewing glasses for the first 1,000 guests! Admission will be free for members and $4 for the public.
Penn Dixie is located at 4050 North Street in Blasdell.
