Seance what?
Lily Dale medium hosts Dan Aykroyd, family
ARKWRIGHT– He, his wife and his grown daughters weren’t in the area to bust any ghosts; instead Dan, Donna, Belle, Stella and Danielle Aykroyd attended a seance at the Arkwright home of Lily Dale medium (and medical doctor) Neal Rzepkowski this summer. Mychael Shane, a “materialization medium” was conducting the seance.
“The family contacted the Assembly about wanting to attend a seance. Luckily there were openings at the one Mychael was doing at my house,” said Rzepkowski.
Many people might not know that Aykroyd, whose claims to fame include “Saturday Night Live,” as well as the movies “The Blues Brothers” and “Ghostbusters,” identifies as a Spiritualist. Moreover, this identification runs in his Canadian family.
His great-grandfather Samuel was a dentist who hosted seances. His grandfather Maurice, a Bell Telephone engineer, tried to fabricate a radio frequency device to reach spirits. In 2009, Peter, Dan’s father released a book, “A History of Ghosts: The True Story of Seances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters,” which starts in Lily Dale in 1848 and is characterized as part history and part family legend. Dan wrote the introduction.
Aykroyd gave Rzepkowski a copy of the book as a thank-you.
During the seance Shane produced 94 little gems. These items are classified as apports. According to Wikipedia, “In parapsychology and spiritualism, an apport is the alleged paranormal transference of an article from one place to another, or an appearance of an article from an unknown source that is often associated with poltergeist activity or seances.” Videos of Shane producing these can be found on YouTube.
Rzepkowski, who was recently elected Assembly president, said “I know, hard to believe. (But) I have even larger apports that have been gifted to me by other ‘materialization mediums.'”
