OBSERVER Staff Report

A water main break on Central Avenue near Day Street in Fredonia kept public works crews busy Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

The break occurred around 11 p.m. in front of Larson Timko Funeral Home. Central Avenue was closed off from Newton to Water streets as crews were busy repairing the break.

Crews returned to the area later Tuesday morning after the water main broke again. The repair sleeve that was put on after the first break didn’t hold, forcing crews to replace the whole pipe.

Mayor Athanasia Landis said the area has seen problems over the years. Landis said the village is starting to take care of the village’s infrastructure and will eventually address the issues near Central Avenue too.

Starting at $2.99/week.
