Trio charged after Christmas day shooting in Jamestown
OBSERVER Staff Report
JAMESTOWN — A cache of weapons were found and three men were arrested following a Christmas Day shooting.
Officers responded at about 2:40 a.m. to a report of shots fired Tuesday in the area of East Second and Jeffords streets in the city of Jamestown. An investigation found that someone fired two shots from a moving vehicle with a .45 caliber pistol. The shots were fired at another vehicle also driving in the area, Jamestown police said in a press release.
Police learned the vehicle went to 407 Foote Ave., where the suspect parked and entered the home. Surveillance was set up, while search warrants were obtained for the vehicle and residence.
While executing the search warrant, police located a loaded pistol, AK-47 rifle, and a .22 caliber rifle inside the home. Also found was a large-capacity feeding device for the AK-47 rifle along with multiple rounds of ammunition for each weapon.
Angel M. Carino-Ricard, 27, was charged with two counts each of second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.
The shooting was a targeted incident and not random, Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said. The victim reportedly knew Carino-Ricard, which helped officers located the vehicle and home during their investigation.
Also charged with three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon were 31-year-old Rafael Gonzalez-Rivera and 33-year-old Mike A. Santiago.
All three were taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail. They were held pending arraignment in city court.
“Our patrol officers did an outstanding job with this case and their quick actions of locating the suspect vehicle and surveillance of the suspect residence resulted in three dangerous weapons being taken off the streets,” Samuelson said. “That is always a good thing in our business.”
No injuries were reported in the shooting. Additional charges are pending.
