Edward A. “Buddy” Woloszyn, 59, of Fredonia died Saturday evening (Nov. 3, 2018) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

He was born Nov. 21, 1958 in Dunkirk, the son of Audrey J.(Opacinch) Woloszyn of Dunkirk and the late Edward E. Woloszyn.

A lifelong resident of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, Mr. Woloszyn was a 1976 graduate of Dunkirk High School and a 1981 alumnus

of State University of New York at Fredonia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also attended the American Institute of Banking and the Academy for Financial Executives at Ohio State University. In 1983, Mr. Woloszyn joined the Lake Shore Savings & Loan Association in Dunkirk, was elected assistant treasurer in January 1985 and later served as assistant vice president and manager of the Fredonia office. More recently, he was employed by Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. in Dunkirk as its Chief Financial Officer. In November 1994, he

was elected to fill a one-year position on the Pomfret Town Board. During his time on the board, he served as the town

representative to the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce and the Fredonia-Pomfret Parks and Recreation Commission. In addition, he had worked with the town Planning and Zoning Board. Active in the community, Mr. Woloszyn was the former president of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Lions Club. He also had served as treasurer of the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce, Pomfret Development Corporation and the Northern Chautauqua Clearing House. He had been a member of the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County (serving as Division Chairman in 1990) and volunteered with the

Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals On Wheels. He also belonged to numerous area social organizations, including the Dunkirk Lakeside Club.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his three children, Aaron E. (Jess) Woloszyn of Medina, OH, Megan E. (Matthew Krauza) Woloszyn of Buffalo, and Nicholas M. Woloszyn of Hermosa Beach, CA; one sister, Janet Woloszyn (Stephen) Ritson of Sedona, AZ; and one brother, Andrew J. Woloszyn of Dunkirk. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish, Church of St. Hedwig. Calling hours will be held TODAY from 3-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
