A title after new year’s?
January 7, 2009 - John D'Agostino
College football was once so simple. All the big games were on the first day of the year.
Today it has lost its luster. On New Year's Day we are treated to leftovers, the almost unbeatens and runners-up. Wait another six days for the big game.
Come on! It's time for the NCAA to end this ridiculous tradition.
College basketball's March Madness has not changed its formula for success since the '80s. Why did we have to fix college football, which was already a controversial issue.
Fox Sports has said it will not be in the running for the BCS games next year. Maybe that's a good sign.
Maybe now college football season can end when the new year begins. I, for one, did not even know Tulsa and Ball State played on Jan. 6 until Jan. 7. By the way, Tulsa won big.
