Waiting for the races

August 19, 2009 - John D'Agostino
Despite a very cool and too soggy July, summer is coming to an end.

There are numerous ways to tell. The Fredonia Farm Festival will be under way starting Friday. Thousands of Fredonia State University students will be returning this weekend and the Buffalo Bills have ended their summer camp time in Rochester.

But another way you can tell summer is ending is the political arena is heating up. In this region, all council seats are up for grabs while in the county, Chuck Cornell will be facing incumbent Greg Edwards for county executive. In addition, there are a number of races for the 25 legislative seats.

Traditionally, the candidates and races really become a focus after Labor Day. That trend seems to be continuing.
