Future of area schools
March 16, 2011 - John D'Agostino
Agree or disagree, there is no question the topic of school mergers or consolidation is here to stay.
Fredonia schools Superintendent Paul DiFonzo has been one of the most vocal supporters for districts to move in this direction. He cites better programs, additional courses and a superior extracurricular program than what is currently being offered at our area districts.
Dissenters, however, point to tradition and past mergers that have not solved problems, such as the most recent in Chautauqua Lake almost 16 years ago.
