| | It’s only a startApril 14, 2011 - John D'AgostinoDespite the endless whines from our Mayville leaders regarding how poorly Albany treats us, The Wall Street Journal seems to think the state capital and Gov. Andrew Cuomo are moving in the right direction. In an editorial on March 29, the Journal calls Cuomo’s plan "a terrific one-year budget. Spending falls, and taxes are held flat." However, the Journal is quick to temper its enthusiasm, noting the plan lacks any structural reform, does not implement a property tax cap or fix any future pension problems. "Mr. Cuomo’s first year is far from over," the Journal writes. "But unless he steps forward on longer-term reforms, Albany’s irresponsible political culture will simply wait for an improved economy to return to spending as usual." Only time will tell.
