So if you haven't watched the season five finale of "Mad Men," read no further. Let's just say I was underwhelmed with the way things were wrapped up -- or not -- during last night's episode. Has it been the weakest "Mad Men" season finale yet? To compare: At the end of season one, we found out that Peggy hadn't just been hitting the sandwich cart too hard -- she was pregnant! She went into labor and Don gave one of his most memorable, poignant pitches to date for Kodak. Season two concluded with Don's return from California, news of the merger and Betty's pregnancy. I was cheering at the end of season three when Joan comes to the rescue and makes the start of the new agency possible. The words "Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce" were like a sweet symphony! The endless possibilities of the season to come! And, a long overdue divorce from Betty. The season three finale was my favorite. Season four ended with Don's (mind-blowing) impromptu proposal to Megan. Oh, if only we would have known what was to follow. So, yes, I would conclude that this was by far the least satisfying finale in "Mad Men" history. But what about season five as a whole? I need to let my rage dissipate and let it all sink in. Look for my final review of season five in Sunday's paper. | Blog Photos![]() Pour me one, too, Don -- I think we all need a drink after season five. Blog Links |
