Judicial debate

October 27, 2012 - John D'Agostino
One of the major local races is for Chautauqua County Court Judge.

On Thursday, the League of Women Voters hosted a debate between the candidates at the Fredonia Opera House. Beginning with opening statements, challenger and current county Legislator William Coughlin went on the attack regarding incumbent Judge John Ward's record in appeals.

Those appeals came to light in a Buffalo News article last year. Click on link at right to hear the opening statements of the candidates.

In League debates, it must be noted, each candidate receives a time limit, which is why Coughlin is cut off.
