Olympic fever puts area in spotlight

August 6, 2008 - John D'Agostino
It’s official: Olympic fever has struck Chautauqua County.

On Tuesday night, Barker Commons in the village of Fredonia was put in the spotlight by Western New York television cameras as well as this newspaper. Our U.S. Olympian Jennifer Stuczynski proudly returned home and was greeted by more than 1,000 people during National Night Out.

While here, Stuczynski spoke briefly and proved to be overwhelmed by the signs -- and shirts -- of support that are evident just about everywhere in northern Chautauqua County.

It was a great evening and just one more reason so many are proud to be a part of Chautauqua County.

Let’s go Jenn!
