At the hearing: an education
July 18, 2013 - John D'Agostino
When it came to the numbers, Dunkirk schools Superintendent Gary Cerne was prepared.
In making his statement during the Public Service Commission hearing, Cerne pointed out the NRG Energy Inc. plant in Dunkirk is responsible for 10 percent of the district’s revenue. If the plant shuts down, he noted, where is the revenue going to come from?
Cerne said at the hearing — and in previous print articles — 58 teaching positions might have to be laid off if the plant is no longer running in the city.
