Cashing in on fishing
August 15, 2013 - John D'Agostino
On Aug. 7, a VIP event took place on Lake Erie off Dunkirk.
Numerous Chautauqua and Erie County officials took to the waters for a fishing excursion in the morning capped by a luncheon in the afternoon. Organized by Zen Olow of the county, the event spotlighted what many here should not take for granted: Lake Erie is a treasure.
One of the speakers at the lunch was Rich Davenport of the Erie County Fish Advisory Council. Davenport’s comments are included in last week’s Publisher’s notebook column as well as on the link at right.
In summary, Davenport notes, our area is missing the boat on an economic opportunity that already exists.
