More support for NRG
November 15, 2013 - John D'Agostino
Days after the Genesee County Chamber announced its opposition, a former state Assemblyman has weighed in with his support on the repowering project for NRG in Dunkirk.
Dan Burling, a seven-term assemblyman, says he was "astonished to read the poorly reasoned statement" by the chamber and later notes while NRG is investing in the state, National Grid is not.
"National Grid is a United Kingdom-based company that purchased the former Niagara Mohawk utility and proceeded to send quality jobs out of state," he wrote on Thursday. "They are now trying to convince our regulators to approve a project that pales in comparison to what NRG has offered. I believe that actions speak louder than words. NRG’s actions through their continued investment in New York and their Dunkirk Repowering Project with the many benefits for Western New York deserve our support."
