How Red Wing became a national force

Area residents love and respect Fredonia's Doug Manly.

The former Red Wing president recalled his years, which began in 1957, at the Fredonia facility on Wednesday afternoon. He talked about how he — and then chief executive officer and owner Ed Steele — built the company and got into the private-label business.

When the interview begins, Manly is discussing the Kraft-Smucker jelly rivalry, which led to their entrance into the private-level business.
