Lady Eagles remind Torrance of past team

Mike Torrance can only remember one team younger than the one he will field at Ripley this season. That's saying something because Torrance will be entering his 21st season on the bench for the Lady Eagles. But that one younger team was a special one, it was the 2002 Section VI Class D championship team. "We lost seven starters from the end of last season," said Torrance about last year's sectional runner-up. "In '02, we started one senior and beat (Hinsdale) for the sectional crown. I don't remember another team, other than that one, this young." Gone are First Team CCAC Division 3 ace Sam Bollinger as well as catcher Courtney Yokom, Terrie Waters, Ashley Yokom and center fielder Brittany Enterline, all Second Team all stars last year. Torrance isn't dwelling on what he lost, instead he's excited about one player coming back, junior Sam Eimers, who was a First Team all-state selection in Class D last year.
