NOT GIVING UP: Legislators continue fight to end insurance for county officials
MAYVILLE - The county legislators who voted to eliminate their own health insurance option Wednesday are disappointed, but aren't quitting. During the legislature's regular meeting Wednesday, the group voted 13 to 10 to keep its option for county-supplied health insurance, with Richard Babbage, R-Bemus Point, Larry Barmore, R-Gerry, Leon Beightol, D-Falconer, James Caflisch, R-Clymer, Fred Croscut, R-Sherman, Robert Duff, R-Forestville, Jay Gould, R-Ashville, Wally Huckno, D-Jamestown, Stephen Keefe, D-Fredonia, Dave Kleparek, D-Fredonia, Jerry Park, Forestville, Doug Richmond, R-Westfield and David Wilder, D-Silver Creek, voting against the local law. On Thursday, Tina Hallquist, C-Jamestown, who started the most recent initiative to eliminate county-paid health insurance for legislators, said she was not shocked by the outcome of the vote. 'Considering the amount of animosity I received from a few of them (legislators), I'm not surprised,' she said.
