National Grid offers tips for a green holiday season

November 20, 2009

With the holidays rapidly approaching, National Grid is offering customers the following tips to save energy and money on winter heating bills for a “greener” holiday season: Using the smallest appliance for the job while cooking during the holidays will always save energy. If the oven self-cleans, turn it on just after taking out the holiday cookie cut outs, while the oven is still hot. Consider replacing older strings of holiday lights with more energy efficient LED lights. Also, try reducing the number of strings of lights this season.
