Community reacts to firing of Jauron

November 18, 2009

“It’s about time.” That was the reaction of Dunkirk resident Ray Abramowicz on Tuesday when asked about his thoughts of the Buffalo Bills firing head coach Dick Jauron. “They need a coach that is going to go in there and control the locker room,” Abramowicz continued. “Somebody that’s going to get them going. I wouldn’t mind (Bill) Cowher, but with the money that the Bills have to pay Jauron now, they’re not going to be able to get a high-profile coach.” A high-profile coach seemed to be exactly the type of coach people in the area want the Bills to hire. Cowher got more than one vote as did another Super Bowl winning coach. “Mike Ditka,” Dunkirk resident Nate Dolce said. “I’ve also always been a Mike Shanahan fan and of John Gruden. Someone with a known name, but not Eric Mangini after the Browns fire him, because that’s what (the Bills) would do.” The Bills’ 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns was seen as a major turning point in the job status of Jauron.
