Gowanda moves step closer to playoff berth
GOWANDA — Gowanda moved one step closer to clinching a first-round home playoff game with their 29-8 Class C North win over Roy-Hart on Sunday. Aaron Benton and Levi Hubbard led the Panther offense, connecting on two touchdowns. Leading 8-0, Benton found Hubbard for a 26-yard touchdown pass and again in the third quarter on a 9-yard strike. Benton finished 13-15 for 207 yards and two touchdowns while Hubbard finished with six catches for 102 yards. “We haven't had any one go over 100-yards in a long time.” Gowanda head coach Mark Leous said of Hubbard's performance. “Aaron (Benton) had plenty of time to throw and he put the ball on the money all day long.” Christian VanNote scored the Panthers' first touchdown of the game on a 11-yard run in the first quarter while Frank Sparks finished the scoring with a 2-yard run in the fourth.
