Historic state village approves dissolution
March 17, 2010
Though the results are unofficial, the historic village of Seneca Falls has approved dissolving. According to the Finger Lakes Times in Geneva, vote totals currently stand at 1,142 people in favor of dissolution and 1,037 against. Still to be counted are at least 125 absentee ballots and 20 to 30 affidavit ballots. Seneca Falls, which is located 40 miles west of Syracuse, is where the women's rights movement began and is the home of the Women's Rights National Historic Park. The village also is believed to be modeled after Bedford Falls, the place where the classic movie "It’s A Wonderful Life" took place.
