Brocton Little League making a difference
Editor, OBSERVER: My grandson played ball for the Brocton Little League program. I just want to take this opportunity to say how much I enjoyed attending his games. It was so pleasant to sit there and watch those young boys play ball. But what was also very pleasant was the way the coaches, umpire and parents treated the boys. I never heard a coach yell or criticize a player and I also never heard a negative remark from the spectators. As a matter of fact, the parents clapped when a boy on the opposing team made a really good play. I have attended sports events where the coaches yell and criticize their young players on the playing field or court. It upsets me terribly to see and hear this. To me sports is a place for young people to learn sportsmanship and to build their self-esteem — not to be embarrassed in front of their family and friends. I would like to compliment the Brocton Little League Program for providing a positive atmosphere for the young people of our community, and
