‘Variations on a Theme'

CHAUTAUQUA — Chautauqua Theater Company Artistic Directors Vivienne Benesch and Ethan McSweeny are proud to announce “Variations on a Theme” by Anna Ziegler, the first CTC/NPW production of CTC’s 25th anniversary season. The show will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday’s performance is at 8 p.m., Friday’s performance is at 4 p.m. and Saturday’s performance is at 2:15 p.m. Following a young playwright through her blossoming career and waning relationship, “Variations on a Theme” is a lyrical meditation on love and loss — and a writer’s power to put them in perspective. A published poet as well as playwright, Ziegler’s play BFF was hailed by the New Yorker as “an unmitigated pleasure … [her] writing is rueful, frank, and fresh.” Veteran acting couple Nance Williamson and Kurt Rhoads unite with members of CTC’s esteemed Conservatory under the direction of Artistic Director Ethan McSweeny to bring Ms. Ziegler’s written dream to life.
