A pill for every illJanuary 10, 2013Anyone who watches television advertising (and truthfully more and more, I just mute the malarkey) would be left with the impression that there is a pill for every ill, a lotion for every blemish,...... Showing 16 of 16 comments

It's a simply case of people wanting an easy way out.
I worked in an ER for years and the vast majority of people coming through the door want a magic pill that will cure all their ills with a single dose and many get irate when they don't get it.
As for the commericals, they are annoying, although not as bad or as sleezy as the lawyer commericals, but thanks to DVRs I am rarely forced to see them.

Hey Dan, all those commercials, it is called freedom, Dan. You know the first amendment. Lets see , the libs do not like Fox News, commercials, tea party , etc. What do you libs like ? A priest complaining about erectile pills ? Wow. Pain natural for life. Wow again. Good thing people outside the system got painkiller into the medical profession. Operations were feared before this. I read where the med profession kills 100,000 people a year due to malpractice .Dan, maybe we could have the regime broadcast or go back to the 60s where it was 3 networks all saying the same thing. freedom, democratic style !

Recent research has indicated that the same neurological processes involved with choices of convenience, perceived need, satisfaction and security -- which is what all these marketing campaigns you vilify are all about -- are them same processes behind religious/faith choices with Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha or the Easter Bunny.
The difference is, of course, what are you shopping for? Some sort of magic pill to cure what ails you obviously, whether the ails are ED or guilt of sin...
Your perch of judgment is a bit hollow.

dcronig, you forgot the needs and choices of the democrats in your list. They need other peoples money ! You keep messing it up cronig. The big difference is that the libs mandate compliance. Noone mandates anyone buy or even listen to their stuff. Big difference here cronig. Guess you missed that. Choice is only what the democrats offer.

Steiner, you could make a discussion about Tidal Waves a discussion about Democrats/Liberals. By the way, Dcronig makes some excellent points.

Steinerdzzz..actually its the GOP who needs everyone else's money -- as solidly evidenced by the fact that solid GOP states, over the years, receive more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes...
And Democrats only offer choice??? Thats terrific!!! For Liberty is nothing but the exercise of individual choice...duh...

Christopher,
Personally I like how he'll take a discussion about say global warming but his ramblings take so many turns he ends up ranting on about teacher's salaries. But then in a discussion about teachers salaries he'll end up raving about global warming or some other subject.

Posters, you goof it up again. All that paid TV advertising was unheard of years ago. Now we have it.Just like Fox news, the libs do not like it. You once again neglect history. Christopher needs his union rep for that. Why is it that the libs hate choice for anything but an abortion ? The men created science rants ? Huh, not a rant but absolutely true. To deny this is mental illness. But you posters keep doing it.Why is that? Libs, you post nothing but mocks here.Is that the best you can do ? everything cronig says can be said about the libs, they need money. Posters, you are slipping . The malpractice quote is valid and you mock my posts. A sure sign of not much intelligence here.

hey posters, you proved my point ! In 40 years in the chemical industry I never met a woman Ph D and only half a dozen female lab workers. Possibly they were aborted for womens issues, choice ! Since you have posted nothing but nonsense, no serious refutation, I am very happy for it . So keep it coming ! it shows why the men rule the boys club, science and business, a quote right from books written by women seeking access. It also shows why the dems never built anything, they have not the brains for it. All you unlearned posters, keep it coming , yea ! Dont forget those unions Paul. Behind every succesful business was a male inventor to give jobs to the union folk.

I'm in the health care field and I'm a firm believer that all those drugs advertised are not necessarily needed. Those companies are out to make money... despite all the side effects that are possible. Exercise and diet and the correct supplements is the best way to deal with the aging process. The FDA and the pharm companies are linked... and there are natural remedies that have been used overseas for decades but will never be approved by the FDA... for obvious reasons.
The drug commercials are pretty funny though.

I have 3 PhDs working for me, one of them a woman who holds two patents.
Uh, oh - how'd she get in the door?! Time to call HR...science, after all, is the exclusive domain of men.
Uh, oh, part 2: She, like I, voted for Romney. At least she said she did - must be a subversive/plant.
Darn it, I just broke my New Year's resolution again and responded to a Steiner-gram. :-)

Steiner,
Have you ever considered that maybe the reason you haven't met any is because whenever they see you coming they hide so as to avoid that "misogynistic nutcase" that works down the hall from them?
Just a thought.

Speaking of the headline for this article...DarkStar, do you think he'll get worse now the the FDA is halving the dosage of Ambien?
