Exactly Marcia. People can pray anywhere they want, anytime they want. No one can stop them. I do it all the time in all places.
What did stop is forced prayer in our schools. The prayer said was of one type of religion, ignoring other faiths completely. Something our forefathers specifically sought to prevent.
Unfortunately, the author is misinformed. Students can pray in school. I'm sure many pray before tests. However, our schools cannot promote any specific religion, since there is a clear separation of church and state in our constitution. Now you may be a chrstian, however those who are not should not have to say prayers to a god they do not believe in. Your thoughts are very similar to those advance by the taliban, though.
Just trot out religion as a cure-all for society's woes and the loonies come our to roost. There is no more divisive element in the world than religion; and, no greater fuel for the hate-mongers.
