For only being in office for a short time, the mayor has already learned how to issue a statement that spreads the most manure in a few words. I guess that's pretty easy when someone else is pulling the strings. Just remember, watch her lips move.

True, DKex, but whenever moral principals are ignored, based on the reasoning: "if I/we don't take it, somebody else will", then the wrong principals become standard practice.

Able-bodied, career welfare recipients live by the same principals.

Don't blame Gowanda for learning how to get grant dollars; indstead, blame Congress for spending money like this in the first place.

No money for school aid but money for this? It would be nice if kids could walk to school but unfortunately they are no longer safe walking to school. A short time ago the little girl in Fredonia riding her bike to school was attacked.

Looks like Gowanda's mayor doesn't appreciate Christopher's opinion on this issue...how dare you! (lol).

How much money would it save if the children walked to school rather than ride a bus?

Has anyone calculated this cost for the city of Dunkirk? or Fredonia?

This would be a very interesting study. Wonder if in the long run it would save much money over the years.

Excuse me, that should read "I can't wait to see what's accomplished with MY money".

It's PORK money, plain and simple. It's one good reason why we're broke (as a country)and why the corrupt politicians who are respnsible keep getting elected. I hope the people in Alaska who were vilified for "the bridge to nowhere" are aware of this. It's just as ridiculous. The fact that the money is there doesn't change what it is, and what it is is a total waste of MY TAX DOLLARS!!! But H e l l, why would Gowanda care? I can't wait to see what's actually accomplished with the money.
