According to a senate budget commmittee, the 2011 cost of welfare topped $1.3 trillion. We are becomming a nation fat and lazy, totally dependent on government from cradle to grave. Why bother looking for work when government will hand you everything yiou need? As for Obama, all presidents try to influence and establish their legacy. Obama might be the president of gay marriage.

I will once again throw this question out there...How many people in our County are receiving Cash welfare? How many of them are 'employable'?

Do you know?

So many keep bashing how they get this for free, and that for doing nothing, as if they are the root of most of our economic problems. Yet, how few of you know how many are on cash assistance right here in our county.

I will wait to see the answers.

What I will most likely get though is no facts. Just more insulting words that have no basis in reality.

Since when was saving our planet a "liberal" idea? Good people still think that accepting well documented SCIENTIFIC information is now a "liberal" idea?

Climate change is real. It is accepted by 98% of all scientists in the world. We are seeing real life every day threats that the change in our climate is bringing (droughts, wildfires, severe storms, tornadoes made of fire, etc..just watch the news)

The GOP used to be the party of the intellectuals. It was the party where people promoted research and science. What happened? How did ignorance overtake this party? and more importantly how can you get them out?

We need real discussions on how to address the issue of climate change..including ideas from conservatives. Not more stick heads in sand and pretend everything is fine attitude.

And yet again I know what party DUHnkirk belongs to by the response with nothing but snarky attitude. Very sad that liberals don't seem to mind being complete buttheads and then wonder why conservatives won't agree with them on anything. The funny part? Sooner or later the rich will take their toys and go somewhere warm and leave the whole cesspool to implode.

Yep, the U.S. the only country in the world where if you illegally cross its borders, you wind up Ina much better quality of life than if you didn't. Americans cross into Iran: prison/hard labor. North Korea, same thing. Afghanistan, you could be shot on sight. Here, you get a Driver's license, food stamps, benefits etc. why are we having so many money issues again?...

""Our journey is not complete until we find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as a land of opportunity," As long as we let the illegals in to buy votes for liberals when you translate from politico to English.

Okay, let me rephrase the question. Why two swearing in ceremonies? Why wasn't yesterday both the official and "pomp and circumstance" inauguration, not today?

Yep, the possibilities are limitless. Where else can you qualify for free food, free medical care, free housing, free phone, free utilities, etc. without having to work, or having never worked and contributed toward these "benefits." Only in America.

And just curious here, why wasn't the "official" swearing in yesterday? Another law laid out by the Constitution that can be changed by this administration?

I think the president laid the groundwork for what will be a very liberal agenda. Immigration, gay rights, women's rights, and global warming will all take center stage and he don't have to worry about re-election. I would have preferred to hear more about his plans for the economy, foreign trade and foreign relations.
