The NYS Council of Retailers have backed the increased minimum wage. They understand that in order to spend money, people need to earn it. And you contradict yourself. If minimum wage jobs are for students, why would it affect companies that employ people in career positions?

Leave it to the head goose of the church ladies gaggle of geese, aka the Clueless OBSERVER board, to loudly honk his thorough economic ignorance with equating increasing labor costs as a "tax."

Unbelievable. I mean, the head goose's accounting and economic logic is breathless.

Likewise, should the head goose approach his WVa owners and ask for a raise, salary increase or bonus, by his brilliance, he shouldn't be surprised if his request is denied because management is opposed to increased taxation.

Don't worry, all we need is a return to "Christian values" and prayer in the schools, all will be fixed!! I assume that would include the minimum wage issue. While everyone is at it, please, pray for Steiner!

Christopher, where in the article does it mention anything about christian values, or returning to them? Really?

Maybe we should pray to the Teamsters? Because, you know, they solved Jimmy Hoffa's woes.

Dcronlg, frustrating isn't it? Attempting to get a point across to another individual that thinks their fecal aroma is ambrosia for the masses? Now you have a hint of what conservatives feel everytime Obama speaks of fairness for all. As long as it is what he wants, it's fair. If not then it's ignorant or, an even better catch all retort, racist. I don't believe he meant increased tax in the way you percieved. As in the motor was taxed more going up the hill than down. You have a good day Dc.

Chris, what happened? You aren't usually this flippant and mean. Raising minimum wages is a double edged sword. Retailers think everyone can then afford higher prices so the cost of living goes up. Then the higher minimum wage is right back to the buying power it had before being raised. But the taxes coming in are a higher dollar amount and that is what politicians desire. A larger dollar amount to spend. Doesn't matter to them the actual buying power of those dollars is diluted, it's a bigger number to throw at the voters. And of course votes are what this silly game is now all about, isn't it?
