Is this really where the Dunkirk Local Development agency should be spending our time and money? It seems their efforts should b e spent on attracting new investment and bringing new jobs to the city. What is the economic impact of music on the pier, the fireworks and other lakeside events? Are they creati8ng jobs and bringing new economic development to the city? What are these events costing the city and isn't it time we have a complete accounting of revenues and related expense? Maybe the bigger question is why do we have a Department of local Devdelopment, what does it cost to operate and what has it ever done for the taxpayers of Dunkirk?

You don't think that having festivals that give the residents something fun to do AND bring in outsiders who bring their money falls under their mission of economic development and community development? It's only part of what they do, but an important part. Or are you going to pretend like the festivals haven't been a good thing for the City and should just be abandoned? They also get most of their money from business sponsors like any other event would. If you really wanted answers to your other questions you would go to their website, but I suspect you would rather just complain.
