Three women are killed every day in our country at the hands of an abusive partner. This Act has helped thousands of women through programs (such as safe houses and shelters), education and increased legal protections.

At the center of the controversy over the renewal of the Act is the expanded protections for immigrant, LGBT, and Native American victims. Some in Congress do not feel that they need the same protections and safeguards as other women. As if they are either immune from abuse or not worth the protections. Both views are insulting.

There is no legitimate reason, other than pure politics at the expense of abused women, why this Act has not already been passed.

Keep up the fight Senator..many are counting on you...including some whose lives are literately at stake.

I encourage everyone to call or e-mail Rep. Reed and encourage him to vote for this legislation. 708-6369 in Jamestown or (202) 225-3160 in Washington.

Why is it Schumer does not care about violence against men? Shouldn’t elimination of violence against all persons be pursued? Is the funding that already exists earmarked so that only cases involving violence against men are prosecuted? Schumer never misses a chance to throw money at a cause in order to try to win a few votes.
