Embezzlement here in Forestville? Why isn't that clerk called out to explain her actions ? This isn't the Obama administration, after all, where anything goes. Shameful. And shame on those who should have been looking over the clerk's shoulder.

Not that it matters to the failing audit. But Marcia quit in June and the deputy clerk was hired to take the load off Marcia by doing strictly water billing etc....and she is not named because she was just a part-time employee who didnt have responsibility kinda like now. This is sad. We were lead to believe the audit was good. When is our board going to stop lying to us as residents. We need change and elections are coming. Maybe the best that we can do is vote the right way and get someone in there who may have a clue. I do not hold the answers but I do have high hopes for our little village.

The Peter Principle: "In a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence” and that "In time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out its duties."

Why am I not surprised? I say dissolve the village and turn all services over to the town. One less layer of bureaucracy, one less layer of corruption, and I am sure lower taxes. It is high time the Good ol' boys are removed from power.

They should dissolve the Villages of Forestville and Silver Creek and let the Town of Hanover run things! Both Village governments are inept!

As I recall, when Ms Petersen was clerk, she often spoke out regularly at board meetings, always trying to influence the board's decision on any given issue. She always had a lot to say...hope she responds publicly to this audit's findings and explain herself.

Ms. Peterson did what she was told to by former mayor Brewster. And the Village Board rewards him with a job he is not the least bit qualified for.

At one point the Village of hanover was an employment agency for relatives of the Town Supervisor, as well as a source of insurance and other benefits. I'd hesitate to recommend anyone being run by the Town of Hanover, although there has been SOME changes in leadership. Town's in general are useless political entities. If a place isn't big enough to be self sustaining, than the County should be all the government you need.

You all are quick to accuse when you don't KNOW any facts other than this audit. I would lay the blame for this squarely at the voters feet! Four hundred registed voters in the village and only about 50 voted in the last board election. Point your fingers all you want; there is no one to blame but yourselves.

Fact is there was no mention of any illegal activity. Poor woman in a small town. What more could you expect. But just look at the potential new leaders. Bad to worse. One has their way meetings will be out of the Tavern on the Mall.
