March 2, 2013

Editor, OBSERVER: In regard to the automated phone calls from the CSEA on the County Home, I received a call on Feb. 25 even though I am on the national Do Not Call registry....

It's so easy to accuse local reps of accepting bribes, but it's typically a false accusation. On the other hand, I can't deny the relationship between Edwards, M&M & Avi Rothner is awfully suspicious.

Apparently the CSEA feels it is a politican organization with all the politicians they buy!

PERB is a difficult obstacle to overcome when elected reps attempt to reduce costs. Ironically, PERB & the unions are ultimately cutting their own throats b/c in the end, communities simply can't afford such costs, hence the steady decline in business & population. To put it bluntly, selfishness is destroying this area.

A union's function is to represent and improve members' interests. However, considering the economic decline and financial mess that this county/state is in, union members must be part of the solution and be willing to accept CBA modifications, otherwise, high taxes will continue to force MORE businesses & people to leave, and more public workers, especially public school employees, will keep losing their jobs.

Its always CSEA did this or that and are over paid people.Maybe u should put a application in for one of the over paid Gov jobs?Being they make so much and you so little? The union is doing their job for the people.

FF: how the CSEA spends THEIR money to protect the interests of its members is not surprising. I hope you're being sarcastic and not actually believe it'll voluntarily offer CBA concessions just so it doesn't have to "waste" money to protect those same interests.

Do not call only covers those who are trying to sell you something.

CSEA has spent money for Robo-calls, road signs, T-shirts, newspaper ads etc. They could save a lot of tax dollars if they agreed to cut wages the amount they spend on these items.

According to the National Do Not Call Registry, "calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted" so it sounds like it would be legal.
