State abortion law changes may be ‘horrific’

March 3, 2013

Of all the troubling headlines I’m finding from Western New York these days, one headline trumps them all — the latest proposal by Gov....

Dan is touching the third rail here, next to social security and entitltlements. Women's needs are sacred cows.

Just curious why you did not adopt one of those 'unwanted pre babies'?

Does the writer also advocate for more help for women while they carry the fetus? Do they advocate for more funds for WIC, HEAD START, food stamps, and all other programs that help infants and children once born? Do you advocate for ACA and other measures to ensure that the care for the severely disabled and medically needy will not fall solely on the parents of that child?

Or do you only fight for the rights of the "pre born" ignoring the very real needs of the "already born" babies?

So, you do believe in late term abortion. It's just a choice, isn't it Judeye? What do you call taking a pair of scissors, slamming then into the base of the skull and stirring them around, then inserting a vacuum tube and sucking out the results? In any thing already born it's murder. But because the body isn't outside of the mothers, it's called a "Late Term Abortion". I wonder if you have ever heard the screams from a "fetus" having this done to them? After all, it's just a cluster of cells.

Its amazing to me, MikeDavis, the C.A.D. (Chief Adult Determinator), that you talk to Judeye as if you KNOW what being a female is like, as if you KNOW what having a v-a-g-i-n-a is like, as if you KNOW what a menstrual cramp feels like, as if you KNOW what being pregnant is like, as if you KNOW morning sickness, as if you KNOW the irrepressible burden of being an accidentally pregnant single woman.

Maybe you're being a C.A.D. was a wee bit misapplied.

Perhaps you're Definitely Ignorant of Cervix Knowledge.

Nice sanctimonious blathering Dc. I put my opinion here Dc, you can agree or not. I will continue to stand up for the rights of the baby that is being turned into a murder victim, or in words you and your fellow choice proponents, a "late term abortion".

Somehow we have lost the concept of personal responsibility in our society and the male involved in a unwanted pregnancy is equally responsible.

MikeDavis..if it is for medical reasons..such as saving the life of the mother...I might agree. I think that choice should be between the doctor..the woman and NO one else. It really is NONE of my business.

It should be a medical decision. I can tell you very very few women would ever wait that long if the reason were just because they were not ready or able to have another child. There in all probability would be a compelling reason why a women would choose a late term abortion..such as her life or the revelation that the fetus would be born severely disabled..such as without a brain (yes it does happen)

I stand with this being and remaining a private decision..between a woman and her doctor and NO ONE else.

Frb002, could not agree more. Why is it the father isn't included in the choice? If he says no it doesn't matter. If he says yes because he doesn't want to be finacially responsible, it doesn't matter. Only one person makes this decision.

Thank you Dan for writing on this horrific law that our "catholic" governour is trying to legalize. Women deserve better than abortion. As a post-abortive woman, I know what is like to be lied to about the child being just tissue, and that everything will be back to how it was before my pregnancy. That was over 30 years ago and I still regret that ill-informed decision. Want to learn more about how women feel after their abortions I suggest reading testimonies on the Silent No More Awareness Campaign website. Most women do not want abortions but feel it is there only choice. We cannot continue down this road, our society needs to reach and help women in crisis pregnancies. Support your local pregnancy center and make your voice heard in Albany.

Andrew Cuomo makes Barack Obama look like a conservative. We have no problem aborting over one million babies per year but if 20 children get murdered in Newtown, Conn. it's called a national disgrace and Cuomo takes immediate action to reduce the sale of guns. I think it's called being a "hypocrite" (or is it a liberal).

I just love how Judi always says it is a personal decision when it is a liberal idea, but otherwise it is up to government to take away rights. Why is it that if I am a responsible person, who tries really hard,(and it is hard,) to make ends meet and to raise my children to be self sufficient, that I am the one who gets scorned. Why is it that the people who make poor decisions, don't have to suffer the consequences of their actions? This is the biggest problem in the entire world right now, let alone this country. The criminals don't get punished, yet the law abiding do. Those who want to run wild and drink and drug can get disability payments, taken out of the Social Security pot, yet others who work all their lives have a hard time collecting and getting their true entitlement back. Why is it that if a woman wants to screw around and get pregnant, but then determine that it is an inconvenience to her, that she can just throw it away at her whim?

Hey judeye and all libs, it is easy to see our govts emphasis today. Abortions , the only choice protected by law and teachers unions, anti choice.

I will never be able to understand how abortion got twisted into a "womens health issue" instead of the "murder issue" that it truly is.

Before I get jumped on, I don't support abortion or the death penalty and I do volunteer and help abused and neglected children who have been born right here in our county. I don't need a party line to tell me how to think.

chosen4life...I feel very badly for you. You made the wrong decision for you. I hope that someday you will make peace and forgive yourself for making the decision which I assume at the time you thought was the best one for you and all involved.

But do not speak for all women who may have had this procedure. Many are very comfortable with their decisions, feeling it really was the best choice for a wide variety of PERSONAL reasons. They have no guilt, no remorse, no regrets. Many know it was the best decision for them at the time. There are many many reasons why a women would choose to have this procedure performed. I for one refuse to judge any of them.

By the way, why not take that remorse and put it to use advocating for the many children that are born without the supports, love and basic care that they need to thrive? I think you would be a wonderful asset to help those breathing babies.

Sorry folks, i did not quadruple post, the connection did. judeye proves what i have said all along. Democratic women are special needs. Look at all the programs she mentions.judeye, why is it you insist on telling everyone else what to do, but not women ? From anti fracking , green energy , tax increases etc. You name it and you judeye are for mandates. Adopting instead of aborting ? this is fought fiercely by the libs, choice again. that is why couples go to Russia and overseas. lets face it posters, judeye shows why liberal women need their man , the govt and are in love with him. She proves they are the weaker vessel for sure with her list of demands. There is no other way to say it.

rdnewt..I do not only fight for rights for 'liberal' ideas. For instance, I would defend a person's right to speak, even when it is hateful and promotes fear (will not name them..but we all know tv and radio folk who do this every day) I do not like what they say..will call them out on their lies..and yet defend their right to say it.

There are many reasons why a woman may choose to have that procedure. Most of them are none of our business unless she wishes to share. I do not think it is for any of us to judge her.

"Adopting instead of aborting ? this is fought fiercely by the libs, choice again."

Oh really Steiner...

I adopted TWO of the unwanted "babies". One of them with severe mental and physical disabilities. The other abused for years before I adopted her. Something that still haunts her adult life.

How many have you adopted?

There needs to be signed note with the school nurse's office if a child needs to take an asprin, but there are limited requirements for parent notification in the event a child wishes to abort a children? NY State is a joke.

judeye - thanks. I did not feel there was any other choice. I have found healing and hope by attending a Rachels Vineyard weekend. I speak out for those who may be hurting from an abortion - women & men - to encourage them to seek healing. I speak out to the mothers that are considering an abortion, please get informed before making a life changing decision that may affect your life forever. I speak out to help prevent those little babes in the womb from being discarded. I do not judge anyone for what sins they have committed. I am a sinner who seeked forgivenes and found it in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
