Great post, Warren, as usual. However, remember, those folks you're wondering about are all JOB CREATORS!!! They are, really, just ask all those people in China where they got their jobs from.

Excellent questions.

By the way, I had to use the FOIA just to get the numbers on how many in our county receive cash assistance, and of those, how many were determined "employable" and how many "unemployable".

To me that is an outrage. Why are these numbers not readily available to all of us who after all are paying for it? Hmm...maybe because not as many on receiving cash assistance as some would want us to think. In fact, most people on assistance (not cash) are working...many full time. Now to me..that is a true disgrace.

The difference between the corperate welfare you talk about and the give away to the sluge is the corperate money is payed back if the company survives and people get jobs to pay for the other welfare that never comes back. As to area steel mills the ones that have not gone bankrupt have repaid any loans and are employing people so what is your problem?????

concerned..oh really? Would you please let me know how much the gas and oil industry has paid back..and where? How about all those companies who make record profits and yet paid NO taxes? This is all ok with you?

As for those who disagreed with my other comment..oh think those numbers should be hidden from us the public who pay for it? That is unbelievable...

Again why would a corperation pay taxes the taxes are payed by employees and stockholders or if it is a privately owned company taxes are payed by the owner.

concerned..are you saying that a corporation should not have to pay taxes on its profits?

You might want to take a look at the latest figures at the gap between the super rich and the rest of us. It is huge..and growing wider every year. Income INEQUALITY.

Is it just me that sees this as one of the greatest threats to our system of government? Can anyone tell me of another democratic government in another country where most of the wealth is concentrated with a few at the very top?
