Fredonia: Our choice for trustees

March 7, 2013

High taxes. High water bills. An unfriendly business climate. Lack of development. That sums up Fredonia for the last 15 years when you look at how the Village Board has managed its affairs....

Vinciguerra views auto racing to appearing at meet the candidates to let the voters know his ideas. He certainly knew he was going to run before he made his choice. As for Jones your case isn't very strong for her. She is not a strong candidate. She is another yes person. McKay and Starks are definitely the stronger candidates.

Should have said Vinciguerra views auto racing more important than appearing at meet the candidates to let the voter know his ideas.

"Jones, a Democrat, could be politically pressured into voting along the lines of Cerrie and Subjack in important matters"

Wonder why you did not say that Vincigurerra could be pressured as well to vote along the lines of Thomas Brown and Marc Ruckman?

Is he really much stronger than Jones..or is it because of his gender?

As for me, I know who I will vote for, and NO they are not the same as this paper has endorsed. I want someone who is truly committed to our Village and will work for the people of our community and is a proven leader.

Vinciguerra, is a product of Mike Sullivan, he is anti police, Fire and street depts. He will do the same as Sullivan, cut all budget lines way past the number to adequately fund them, then blame the rest of the board when they have to add back for basic funding. Voters already stated their opinion of him before--not wantede. A vote for Vinciguerra is a vote for Sullivan, Rod Pennica, Chuck civillette ande Jim Oakes. The same crew that wanted to dissolve the Village. The Village should just expand into the Town and dissolve Town Government and let the Village run the day to day operations of the Town. The Village tax itself is not vthat bad, its the outrageous School, county and the high Town tax that Village residents have to pay!

I have known and liked Mike Vinciguerra and his family all my life. He is a very credible, decent and honest person who deserves a chance to serve. Just remember the words of the old philosopher who said "politicians are alot like baby diapers. They must both be changed often and usually for the same reason". Mike would be a change for the better.

You are wrong phil, he is part of the deceitful gang, do not trust him at all. He did not get elected last time for a reason!

The observer is all about open meetings, the Sullivan gang, Vinciguerra included would have secret meetings in Sullivans office late at night and they would come out when they thought nobody was looking, well plenty were!

Let's be happy that Phil has no vote in Fredonia. Baseball is correct. He did not get elected last time and his chances are very slim this time. As for Jones she is weak and a yes person. No fight or independence there. McKay was a good trustee and has my vote. Starks is a possibility for me. She seems to be someone who speaks up and has some fight in her. Don't hold it against her that she is paired up with Vinciguerra. The other option is to just vote for one. Haven't decided yet. But will definitely NOT vote for Vinciguerra!!!

Isn't/wasn't Sullivan involved somehow with the fire dept. or EMT's? If that is the case, how could Vinciguerra be "anti-fire department"? Secret meetings? Did I miss something when they openly announced ahead of time that Lancaster was buying water from Dunkirk all summer long? There are boatloads of "secret" meetings now.

"Vinciguerra views auto racing to appearing at meet the candidates to let the voters know his ideas. He certainly knew he was going to run before he made his choice."

Know how I know you know nothing about a) racing, and b) elections?

It takes years to get access to the seats that Vinciguerra had for the race, and only a couple weeks notice to join an election. Put some effort. Into it.

One has to wonder what Vinceguerra stands for. He's made no appearances to state his views and answer questions. How can you vote for a "pig-in-a-poke"? How does the Observer know so much or is it wishful thinking? Maybe a "secret" meeting. The other three candidates have a proven personal public investment in improving Fredonia, Vinceguerra not so much. I won't vote for an unknown.

localresident......if working for the people of the Village of Fredonia are important to him he could have sold or given his ticket to someone. He is cocky and arrogant!! He lost before and hopefully he will lose again!!!

I hate ALL newspaper endorsements b/c they are simply the opinion of the publisher/editor.

After trustees approved hiring a DPW laborer, JD writes: "...the board... added to an already oversized payroll." Is this a direct slam on the total # of village employees, or is he strictly referring to the # of DPW workers?

As a newspaper man, JD should know enough to provide data to support such statements rather than just offer his opinion, in this case, to sway voters. Consequently, he has zero credibility, and is viewed by many as nothing more than a disgruntled taxpayer who abuses his position whenever the mood strikes.

Yes, commentor, clearly, selling tickets to a vacation with family/friends you had to plan a year or more ahead of time is clearly less important than a quick question/answer session that was planned a couple weeks in advance. Your priorities as a family values person are clearly intact. ... make that clearly not.
