killers asks: "...who will make up for the loss in tax revenue?"
Property owners will, that's who, but first, the city & school will present their "bare bones" budgets.

This contract for power purchase still has to be approved by the PSC, lets wait and see. Also, with the third generator being mothballed that means the pilot payment goes down to less than a fifth of what the original amount would be. My question is who will make up for the lose in tax revenue?

Phil,
I was wondering about the PILOT payments as well, especially since when mothballing part of the plant was first discussed the decreased payments were a major part of every story.

Why is no mention made of the PILOT agreement whereby NRG has been paying local taxing authorities about $8 million per year? Is the amount of those payments not contingent on the number of turbines in operation? What will be the impact on city taxpayers if the school district loses nearly $4 million per year and the city and county loses nearly $2 million per year? Are wage and benefit levels at the Dunkirk facility comparable to other power producers? What is being done to make the city and county a more cost-effecttive place to conduct business? These are the issues that really matter but I am not seeing the answers.

New regs from the EPA , headed by a woman make coal plants unworkable. CO2 is a pollutant now. Obama has declared war on carbon, thats us folks. with this approach. natural gas is OK, but without fracking, we will not have the supply we have now. So it looks like the govt has declared war on people themselves under the guise of saving the environment. take coal and natural gas away, we are not cooked but uncooked. Starvation is not far away folks.
