March 9, 2013

By MARC RUCKMAN Having been a village trustee for only two years, I continue to be amazed at the time it takes to resolve situations....

"Now the Village can move forward."

Yeah, we wouldn't want anyone else pointing out obvious deficiencies/problems/waste areas that need immediate attention pointed out now, would we? Let's even see if we can beat the three month spending spree on Dunkirk water and make it six months this year. let's not allow one person to build a car wash, but fast track the guy 300M down the road though. No buddy system there at all. Nothing to see folks. No, that guy didn't put in a strip club as a finger in our face because he's not "family". It was totes legit! The board will continue on a path of cronyism and you won't get anything done, nor taxes under control anytime soon.

Congrats to Susan Mackay and Phyllis Jones for winning the two trustee spots for the Village of Fredonia. Sorry Mike and Mary Jane. Mike Sullivan and Marc Ruckman were the kiss of death for you. Now the Village can move forward. I want to see what Marc Ruckman can wine about now.

Commenter, there is no professionalism now. A streets department that doesn't have parts on hand and has to fix water main breaks multiple times, a water department that buys water from another district for months on end with no budget or notification, a building inspector who can't control his anger and double/triple-dips, village attorney who gets a department head title even though he's only part time? Considering a grant and having absolutely no plan to deal with the consequences when it runs out? Clearly, this is the utmost textbook example of how a "professional" board conducts itself. Thie way the village is run can NOT get any worse, period, no matter who runs it.

"What Mayor of any Village would represent a trustee in court that won't comply with with the rental inspections of his and his parents rental property? Every situation brought up by Marc Ruckman as a trustee is nothing but an agenda against certain department heads in the Village."

Yes, because anyone in their right mind would openly allow someone who threatened violence against them (in front of a judge, no less) into their place(s) of business and expect them to render a totally impartial inspection. You don't understand the meaning of the word "vendetta" do you? Monaco obviously has a bloodlust.

"Everyone knows that Mike Sullivan has a vendetta against the Village of Fredonia."

I'm curious, what exactly is this vendetta, and why did it start?

"In any event, I disagree with who you think would bring more transparency and integrity to the Board."

RUFKM?? Wait, i s this the same judeye that for YEARS has been harping on and on about a gas well at the CCH? Is anybody upset that Drayo is only part time but still getting full helthcare? The building inspector is working on jobs out of the village while on-hours (at 90K/yr at that). I guess we don't need to know when we're buying water we didn't account for, among other things.

"These two rebel rowsers..." Umm, yeah. because bringing to light things that are obvious problems would be bad.

I sure wouldn't want to tag my name with Marc Ruckman, Mike Sullivan or any of their followers. Everyone knows that Mike Sullivan has a vendetta against the Village of Fredonia. He will go down as the worst Mayor the Village has ever had. To bad, because this is a beautiful village. What Mayor of any Village would represent a trustee in court that won't comply with with the rental inspections of his and his parents rental property? Every situation brought up by Marc Ruckman as a trustee is nothing but an agenda against certain department heads in the Village.

A disappointing diatribe from an elected official. A collection of innuendo and unsubstantiated assertions aired in public does not build confidence in me about his ability to represent me or resolve conflicts. There are four other trustees who seem to be able to resolve issues without resort to vague allegations in a public rant. I wonder what the other side of the story is...

I must point out that when Mike ran before, he was a Sullivan backer relative to dissolving the Village. What's changed? If you think Fredonia politics are bad, pay a little more attention to the Town of Pomfret. Relative to a leak on Rt.83, the last I knew, that's in the Town of Pomfret, why should Fredonia be responsible. As for all of the issues with the building inspections, in my opinion, an elected official with that much personal involvement in an issue should remain silent, at least when speaking as an elected official. I might add that I'm a personal friend of Mark and his family, I have no axe to grind here, I'm just pointing out some facts to be considered.

I am not sure what you are talking about with all these allegations. As a resident I have had little difficulty getting answers to any of my questions. But then again perhaps I am not asking ones that are touchy. Not sure that a trustee should be airing these types of complaints in the public without first filing an official complaint. Have you done that?

In any event, I disagree with who you think would bring more transparency and integrity to the Board.

What Ruckman lacks is tact. What Vinciguerra lacks is tact. The two of them on the Village board would be a disaster. Hopefully when Ruckman's term is up he won't be reelected. These two rebel rowsers on the board would only be embarrassment and disorder. Everything would be an argument. Professionalism would be lost.
