" I've tried to have a rational discussion about this" - you don't even understand the subject matter, you are unable to have a rational conversation.
"but you're obviously a very angry person" - You finally got something right. I am angry that my constitutional rights are being stripped from me.
"and insults are a very important part of your argument" - Facts are the important part of my argument. I have not insulted anybody directly, and stand by my statement about uninformed idiots as it is accurate in describing people who don't know what they are talking about who continue talking about it just the same. If that offends you, it maybe because it hits the mark?
"Get some help with that anger. I'm not going to waste my time anymore with you. Again, get some help." - I have help. Many well informed supporters of our rights and freedoms, from all walks of life.
Ripley- I've tried to have a rational discussion about this but you're obviously a very angry person and insults are a very important part of your argument. Get some help with that anger. I'm not going to waste my time anymore with you. Again, get some help.

Explain how I'm clueless? Oh, wait, you probably don't know what that means either, but Cuomo or Obama told you that gun rights folks are clueless and you are just chiming in. I have a very firm grasp on the 2nd Amendment, my rights, the BS NY SAFE act, the differences and similarities of the firearms that are the point of the discussion. You're entire argument is "the liberals told me guns are bad". More people die each year as a result of drunk drivers than are murdered with firearms, but nobody is calling for ignition interlocks in all vehicles.
You're turn, call Andrew and ask him what to say next.
BTW- It's not your phone that's an uninformed idiot, it's the person that uses it.

Ripley- You're obviously clueless. Don't let me take your time away from Fox news or the NRA site. You've just made your argument even weaker. Get some help.
Conrad - my argument is sound because I understand what I am arguing. You have openly now admitted that you have no idea what you are talking about, but talk none the less. An idiot, dolt, or dullard is a mentally deficient person, or someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way. I think I nailed it. BTW, should we ban trebuchets and catapults as well? They can kill people from a distance.

From the idiot to the idiot (turnabout is fair play) I am interested in tis issue because guns can kill people. It's much harder to kill someone with a knife than with a gun. With a gun you can be quite a distance away from the victim. And again I repeat- There are to many guns out there that can easily fall into the wrong hands. You can kill someone with a .22 rifle. You don't have to know all the technical aspects of any gun to know that they can kill. You're obviously a gun hobbyist which is fine, but that's not the important point of this discussion. The important point is to find ways to stop the gun massacres that happen in this country on a regular basis. And can we stop the 'idiot' business. It doesn't strengthen your argument and as a matter of fact weakens it.
River = Ruger but my phone is an uninformed idiot as well.
Conrad, again, if you have no interest in this discussion why are you here? If you support banning something, either you should know what it is, or you are a mindless follower. My point is that this list of evil features that our lawmakers say define assault weapons is flawed. The River Charger is in no way an assault weapon, but they define it as one. It drives me crazy the extent of uninformed idiots out there that want to take things away when they don't even know what they're talking about. Your logic seems to be that you don't know what the Charger is, but it must be bad because Cuomo said it is. All of you are broken.
Ripley- I went to the Rugar Charger site and to be quite frank it just bored me. Obviously it doesn't bore you. I'm sure there are things that interest me that would bore you. To expand on this whole matter, I used to work with an Evangelical who told me that when he was saved by Jesus he quite naturally became a Conservative. One day I asked him what the Golden Rule meant to him. He laughed derisively at me and told me that "being a nice guy" isn't going to save me from hell. That was his simplistic understanding of what Jesus called one of the most important commandments second only to loving God. You're probably saying, so what's your point and how does it relate to the 2nd Amendment? My point is that Conservatives seem to think in a dogmatic fashion. Their way or the highway and there's no room to negotiate or compromise.
To make thing ease, the Ruger 10/22 is probably the most popular semi-automatic .22LR rifle ever made. It has been in production since 1964 and more than 5 million of them have been produced. In 2007, Ruger introduced a target pistol version of this gun. It is far too large to be a concealed carry pistol, and being chambered in .22LR, it is certainly not a "dangerous weapon". However, because it accepts a magazine outside of the pistol grip and weighs over 50oz unloaded, it has always been classified as an "assault weapon" in NY. I consider this proof that the "evil features" do not make sense.
Conrad - you have given me enough reason to jump to conclusions just throughout the discussion attached to this article. I research everything I don't already know before I put it on here, if you want to have an informed discussion, you need to be informed. I have asked Judeye about the Ruger Charger at least 3 times now, with no response, but everybody who favors these "assault weapon" bans seems to be so sure that we are doing the right thing, I want an opinion on why the Ruger Charger deserves this classification.
Ripley-Why are you so defensive? I asked a good faith question and Judeye made a good faith statement on attempting a dialogue. Ok, when I get time. I'll do what you suggested. What Judeye suggested , to me, sounds reasonable and not dogmatic.
If you're not interested in arms, why are you so interested in taking them away?
Conrad - go to google, type in "ruger charger", look at pictures and read.
Ripley- please explain to me what a Ruger Charger is. There are many of us who are not as invested in the arms world as you are- and I don't mean that as a criticism. I think we can learn from each other.

Judeye - I am not willing to respond to you until you explain to me why the Ruger Charger is an "assault weapon". I respond to your repeated bologna all the time, and I'm still waiting for my answer...
RipleyResident...I may agree with you on how quickly this law got passed.
However, the fact that our founding fathers clearly saw the need to adjust the laws..including portions of our Constitution are clear. Times change. Just like now. We disagree on what weapons should be restricted or banned. But we all agree that some should...No one here advocates for civilians to be able to carry machine guns or dirty bombs do they?
This is where we should be starting then. What weapons should be restricted. What laws could be improved to make enforcement easier. What new laws need to be passed to better protect our citizens.
Let us start a discussion on where we agree rather than on what we disagree on.

1Laona- Is there anything that Obama has ever done that is good or decent or right in your mind? I mean, he is the POTUS and was elected twice by the people. Were the majority of the people wrong? Was he really born in Africa and is he the anti-Christ and a Communist and Islamic and an evil person?
Well Conrad,I think it had something to do with"being for the 2nd Amendment like obama is".There is no "middle of the road" on that subject.obama is and always was anti-gun.Cozy up with christopher and judeye, you'll make a nice 3-some.
BTW- Are there people who hit agree or disagree just to have something to do? In my post today (19th) at 10:53 a.m., what exactly are you disagreeing with? Just curious.
Ripley- I have to say that Cuomo must have received some consultation before he pushed this law through. I agree that he is running for POTUS in 2016, but it's not unusual for a NY governor to do that. Anyway,I have an analogy for you. Suppose a county with 1 large city and several smaller towns had 50,000 weapons and in x amount of time had 500,000 weapons. (I'm going to extremes to make a point.) Would the probability of weapons falling into the wrong hands increase, stay the same or decrease? I think you know the answer. The sheer number of weapons out there scares me. Now, if someone said to me they're buying a gun to protect their family I wouldn't blame them. Too many weapons out there.
Conrad - this is part of the problem. The bans that are being proposed are driven by people who don't understand what they are banning, and the bans are focusing on features that are purely cosmetic. Comparison may be off the wall, but it would be like saying you have to be 21 to drink ginger ale, because it looks like beer.
Ripley- You obviously know more about weapons than I do. It reminds me of an old 'Seinfeld' joke. George is talking about mechanics and says that 'they speak a different language than us.' I might add that a lot of us do that. I work in psychiatry and we laugh amongst ourselves because of some of the terminology we use. Anyway, I have to repeat that it's the proliferation of weapons in our society that scares me. If you don't like Obama(who is for the 2nd Amendment as I am) than Republicans and Conservatives have to stop their infighting while also realizing that there's a different demographic out there. They have to start moving toward the middle of the political spectrum, clear and simple,in order to address a whole host of problems.
