How about the "rebate" Cuomo and company are giving out right now for turning in friends, family, neighbors and anyone else that has a former legal gun. Seems Hitler did this same type thing for those that turned in family and friends. All you who voted for Cuomo are to blame as much as he is for this.

Sheldon Silver is proposing a state run check for pistol permits at a cost of over $28 million!!!! And Cuomo claims NYS is changing how they do business? Bull! He's added millions in spending to every state program there is, while cutting school aid and the ability of localities to raise taxes to pay for the state's mandates. Unbelievable!!

commentor,

Wow, didn't take long for class warfare to show it's ugly head did it?

My issue with this is that I am against the government taking my money and giving it to people, even if I'm included in that number. If you can get by with $350 less of my tax dollars then cut my taxes, don't steal money from me and then try and look generous by returning a fraction of it.

If a crackhead robbed you of all your jewelry and then retuned a single earring would that make up for everything they took from you?

I wonder if the clueless church lady gaggle OBSERVER board had similar disparaging words for Dubya's big national tax rebate idea, when he delivered rebates of $300 and $600.

Somehow, I doubt it.

"It helps families," said Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos. "Democrats a couple of years ago took away the STAR rebate checks, and this is trying to help middle-income families who are struggling."

The $350 tax rebates would go to middle-class families with at least one child and a household income between $40,000 and $300,000. The checks wouldn't be sent to taxpayers until 2014 – as noted – an election year.

Gee, what a coincidence...but, hey, at least it’s something for TAXPAYERS rather than more money for freeloaders.

Interestingly, this is - wait for it - a Republican-led rebate backed by Republican Senate co-leader Dean Skelos.

But where’s all this money coming from? NYS already has a $1.35 billion budget gap that’s grown by hundreds of millions because NYS overbilled the Feds $15 billion in Medicaid, and must start paying that back.

Skelos said the money would come from discretionary funds in Cuomo’s budget - but those dollars are targeted for economic development programs, infrastructure projects and competitive grants for school districts.

What happens to all that? Politics at its finest...

It will look good for Prince Cuomo's run at the WH. Or I should say Benito Cuomo. Other then that it really helps no one that needs it. It's all about democrats buying votes.
