The reason Reed doesn't like the Independent Payment Advisory Board is its mission is to reduce the cost of Medicare. The reasons he gives in BS. The Majority and Minority leaders of both houses each choose three members. There are three non-voting members health experts, including the Secretary of Health and Human Services who know the ins and outs of providing health services, and Congress can override their recommendations.

This board is truly Independent. Reed is not. He is against keeping the Affordable Care Act affordable. He is for keeping the prices high.

Baseball, Phil is right. Have you ever wondered what Brooks Hospital charges for a bottle of Tylenol (or equivalent)? 4x what you would pay for it in the store, if you're lucky. There are insane markups all over the place on hospital master price lists.

I think Mr. Reed is right about the impact on businesses. National health care would be a good idea if we took all the fat out of the national budget and directed our full attention to matters that impact all Americans. What could be more important than health care? The problem is that we are too busy feeding special interests with our tax dollars and it doesn't leave much for the things that really matter. Take the fraud, abuse and inflated prices out of health care and the system becomes much more affordable. Once again I am going to suggest that interested parties rent the Michael Moore movie "Sicko". It's a real eye opener.

obamacare is working. I keep reading of large cost increses for insurance coming. Some businesses are rearranging their employees to keep the total below Obamacare minimums. By every measure, obamacare is a success. it stifles business and raises costs.Think of all the mental energy that went into ACA to kill business and the enrgy exerted by business to evade- avoid compliance with it. Yep, ACA is one of the greatest democratic accomplishments since the new deal.
