What a disappointment Cuomo has turned out to be. Liberal? Yes, we knew that, but dictator? He has lost any chance for the presidency if he ever had one. Of course there are more and more people of inability who look for cradle to grave government support who will vote for him even more than once in the same election. Who can blame them? The blame is on us.

Herr Cuomo is Hitler reincarnated. What a sorry excuse for a governor. People got what they asked for and now everyone is going to pay the price with this megalomanic for a leader.

The libs lifted this right out of the Soviet Union who wanted people to inform on their relatives of crimes against the state. those libs always did love socialist repressive regimes. Confused as ever, a normal state of mind to a democrat.

I tell you what I am confused. I thought they were giving you until next year to register what they are calling assault weapons?

So, let me get this straight: if a criminal or a mental nutcase has an illegal gun -- clearly a menace to society -- and a law-abiding citizen uses this tips hotline like any other used to assist law enforcement against criminals -- then this is an outrageous thing???

Again, if a criminal or a mental nutcase -- the two main types of people we all should be on alert for -- have an illegal gun, and could case yet another Aurora or Newtown, the according to Goodell, Edwards, et al, having a hotline to stop this possible violence is an outrageous, "Herr Cuomo Hitler" deed???

Are you guys even listening to what you're saying and how embarrassing it sounds????

All this silly tips-hotline outrage aside, now Maryland and Connecticut have passed even more restrictive gun control than NY.

Then there's always Finland, Sweden and Switzerland...

And if you claiming that this is targeting criminals, as opposed to average citizens your either deluded or outright lying.

Well of course unless you count those Herr Cuomo has decided are criminals simply because of the style of firearms they own.

I can't believe NY was stupid enough to elect another Cuomo after the damage his father did to the state.

No, DStar, no -- if you're claiming that this is targeting average citizens, as opposed to criminals, you're either deluded or outright lying.

The untethered fixation on the non-existent is the solid, working definition of paranoia.

Dcronig-if this doesn't bother you than give me your address so I can call the hotline to have you investigated.

The problem is this: If I owned an AR-15 last December, it was legal. Our state government decided for us that that AR-15 is no longer legal, unless it is registered (gun registration, btw, is illegal). So, if I decide to not register said AR-15 by next January (which I should not have to do, as it is illegal to require me to do so), my neighbor, who may be a liberal gun hater, calls a tip line.

The state comes in and arrests me, takes my previously legal firearms away on the context that I did not submit to their outlaw registry, and gives my neighbor $500 for being a good sheep.

disclaimer: this is a dramatization as I certainly do not own an AR-15 or any other such thing.

This is right out of the Nazi play book people. First it's turn in your neighbor for guns, next it could be turn in your neighbor for being a Jew.

Any law that violates the constitution is illegal!!!

Vote Cuomo and anyone who supports undermining our nations constitution out of office!!!

They are elected to serve us...We the People!!!

Nice that somebody disagreed with my previous comment, but that means that you are not willing to recognize the truth of the situation. Thousands of people across the state who owned what were NY legal AR-15s, Mini-14s, and many other semi-automatic rifles now have 3 choices: register them, sell them or become a criminal. Before the SAFE law, these were LEGALLY owned firearms. We can't give them to our kids, that is against the new law. We can't leave them to family when we die, also against the law. Go ahead and disagree with this post too, but this isn't an opinion that you can choose to agree or disagree with, it is the law.

The same guns the police use to protect themselves, and that are “required” to protect governor Cuomo and mayor Bloomberg, are illegal for use by citizens to protect themselves. I seems as though protecting citizens is a very low priority in the minds of the governor and the mayor.

RipleyResident,

It even goes further than that. I mean not everyone reads the news, what about the guy down the street whose had an AR-15 for the last 20 years, that doesn't register because he doesn't know about it, now suddenly the leftist will paint him as a criminal who needs to be locked up.

Boy, once the citizens are disarmed, and the government enforces laws by use of armed drones over US cities everything will be perfect.

You get what you vote for. Not to change the subject, but how do we,"We the People", get to put a referendum on the national ballot to vote on this illegal immigrant conversation. I don't think the party of 8 has the brains or ability to decide what WE want...

our kids have plenty reason for leaving already, its getting tough for anybody to find reasons for staying in this martial law state. if only counties could secede from the state, we've got to get rid of this egomaniac.

It is the sheeplike mind of the Dcronlgs of the world that think things like this will never happen:

newyork . cbslocal . com/2013/04/04/nyc-cop-arraigned-as-part-of-ring-who-allegedly-robbed-drug-dealers/

Over 100 robberies, home invasions, etc. real cops, fake cops, all with official uniforms robbing people due to greed and lack of respect for the law.

But, you know, the police would never resort to corruption, racketeering, torture, framing innocent people for no reason whatsoever, all the while , they drive drunk, kill people with no repercussions, steal from evidence lockers, etc. I'm sure this plan was very well thought out and not at all rushed through the mill like the SAFE Act was. Totally. oh, wait, it was another Cuomo power grab. The Son of the Green Goblin strikes again.

Who wants to bet $100 that gun smuggling into NY becomes a whole lot more prevalent? Anybody wonder why this idiotic left-Wong incentive appeared? Because the Enemy from Albany figured out that his new edict is hitting MASSIVE resistance. F you, Governidiot, and go, go, go NY citizens. Hide them for all you're worth.

The tip line has been in effect for well over a year and was aimed at felons/criminals. There is no doubt that police chiefs and other public officials making this law more openly public is a case of poor timing and poor judgment given the backlash against the NY Safe Law which takes effect April 15. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail. We have and are becoming a nation where people adhere to opinions that are dogmatically opposed to each other. This is not a recipe for reasoned dialog.

Conrad, not saying you're lying, but can you post a link showing it's been in action that long? And, who is paying for those rewards (and administration), and how many actual criminals will this program take off the streets? Answer: near zero, probably less.

Where were these cooler heads in January?

I still cannot get the image of Cuomo out of my head, SHOUTING “I say to you forget the extremists. It’s simple — no one hunts with an assault rifle. No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer and too many people have died already,”

The fact is the more I hear how ignorant the gun control folks are about these things that they are banning, the more angry I become

Colorado congresswoman Diana DeGette this week didn't even realize that magazines can be reloaded!!

Come on, if you all are deciding what we can't have, you ought to at least know what these things are.
