"It is "nice" to read a real opinion about all our many, varied and redundant governments. I find it really funny that as the Observer has come out of its shell and started criticizing our redundant and often poorly run little governmental entities those that fell so beholding to their little fiefdoms and their relative start their diatribes. Oh the invested speak." Huh!?

Hanover is facing two separate issues - one is dredging the Cattaraugus Creek area around their boat launch which needs to be done now and the larger, much more costly issue of dredging the creek mouth. When the breakwall was put in, the Army Corp of Engineers agreed in writing that they would dredge the creek mouth every few years. Something that they have not done. It's funny that the state and federal government can make towns comply with their requirements or else they are penalized and fined, but the state and feds can ignore their promises without penalty! The Town does not have a few million lying around to dredge the creek mouth, in order to get the state and federal funding to accomplish that, they will have to have an LWRP in place to qualify. Why not start now instead of waiting?

Apparently, the Town of Hanover's "dire" need(s) aren't as urgently dire to those who live there, as it is to the busybody clueless church lady gaggle OBSERVER board who have nothing better constructive to do than to whip up the imaginable "sound and fury, signifying nothing."

This is really another case of failure of leadership by County "Do Nothing" Greg Edwards.
