Actually, NYS asks that question about any purchases, including out of state. Remember the debacle and uproar when "spies" from the NYS tax department started sending letters to people whose plates they wrote down in the Erie mall? It's not a new issue, nor just the reservation purchases.

I rarely side with the Nation on any economic issues, but from what I've seen, NYS CLEARLY violated the "exclusivity" arrangement relative to the gambling. I must also point out the Nation is trying to make deals with NYS as much as the reverse, it's a mutual "meeting of the minds".

To DKexpat:"Does that mean the Senecas are going to pay NYS all the money that's owed?"

Money owed? Find a copy of the NYS compact agreement and re-phrase your comment. Just for ha ha's, how much money is being brought in from the "Racinos"? Where is that money going?

Message to the Senecas. Be careful of getting into a deal with the state of New York. Something is afoot to get into your revenues to help out the state and cause a decline of the Native Americans. Remember if a deal is to good to be true it probably is. Do not forget the past and what the State has tried to do to get more money. Make sure your attorneys are up to speed and listen take notes and tell the state you will get back to them. Then take your time.

usually this means that the native americans must kow tow to the govt.Which means that no NY citizen can buy lower cost gas or cigs. we all must bow down to the govt.
