Ask any employee who works at a private-sector business about staffing levels and their response is almost always going to be, “We are understaffed....

if the worker was informing the board that at the current staffing levels certain things may not be able to be accomplished at the dpw due to vacations i may have to agree since inthe dpw's case the jobs may not be able to be put off( ie. snow removal, or water breaks, or sewer backup/breakage) a far cry from adjusting a schedule to accommodate staffing levels. Even annoying jobs like leaf pick up is a headache to those workers when they have to listen to the public cry that their pile hasn't been gotten

As usual the observer is manipulating the facts again. I went to the board meeting at my own will. Jack had know idea I was going to be there. I wanted to be there to explain the daily operations of the department. The facts are, that the D.P.W has been drastically cut, bottom line. No one is saying this for attention or so Jack can beef up his budget. That's just the observer misconstruing the facts. I was there not only as a employee, but also someone who cares about the efficiency of the department. I was just trying to point out, that the work force has been cut and we are doing more with less. As far as time off. I wasn't trying to say that village should hire more people because of this. Again, just saying you notice it more when you're operating with four less positions. So I guess I can use the catch phrase (we are understaffed)!!!!!LOL!!
