Initial estimates placed the convcersion cost at $700 million but this article reports $500 million. I wonder if there has been a revision in the estimated cost.

Look at the previous poll! Dunkirk doesn’t CARE: 87% said “No.” Maybe that’s just the problem; maybe the problem with our economy in Dunkirk is the apathy and lack of inertia. We need something to come together on, something to agree on. I look at these comments and I see bickering and disagreement, but where does that get us? Do we have our guaranteed plant? We need something we can trust – maybe something we’ve made ourselves! Maybe it is out of our immediate sight, but that shouldn’t stop us. We can have a vision we all agree on. Think about it: if we can spend almost $1 Billion (because yes, obvi. the $500 mil. is a wrong estimate) on this repowering, then that money should go towards something positive we can all agree upon. I am dismissing the naysayers: we have potential.
We can make this area a blossoming economy but we first need to decide on a clear vision and NRG is the wrong one. NRG doesn’t care about us and our economy; we rely on them but to them Dunkirk is disposable. The 2 year time decision making is a joke and I don’t like to get played with, do you? Don’t send your message of support. It is up to you to decide whether you care about this region or not, and supporting NRG is clearly not caring. Letter our policymakers for a CLEAN Dunkirk, a CLEAR Lake Erie, and a RENEWABLE source of energy for Chautauqua county.
