May 8, 2013

Whether we loved her or merely tolerated her, we all had a mother – sometimes against our own better judgment we heard her without listening and went ahead and did what we wanted to do....

As a mother, I appreciate Mrs. Westling's short story. Ive often thought of my boy as a "Roy Douglas" but not because he was devious. He is an only child and often bored. He has written on the walls and kitchen cabinets and I have framed his work. Ive rescued him from the refrigerator he climbed into, to devour the chocolate icing. He called 911 and saved my life when he was only five. One could say he has bound my heart and soul with his love - no rope necessary. Being a mother and grandmother is the greatest privilege on this earth. Happy Mother's Day Mrs. Westling and all mothers.

Julia Ward Howe..who wrote "Battle Hymn of the Republic"...came up with the idea to celebrate Mother's a call..FOR PEACE.

In her Mothers' Day Proclamation she urges all mothers to unite for peace.

"Arise, then, women of this day! Arise all women who have hearts, whether your baptism be of water or of tears! Say firmly: "We will not have questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our husbands shall not come to us reeking of carnage for caresses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy, and patience. We women of one country will be too tender to those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs."

From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with our own. It says "Disarm! Disarm!" The sword of murder is not the balance of justice. Blood does not wipe out dishonor, nor violence indicate possession.

Let us not forget the TRUE mean
