Next of kin notification might be one, maybe an autopsy to determine cause of death might be another.

"...This person had a great business and does not need their name posted yet!..."

So if it was just some poor working schlub would it be okay to post the name now?

I'm with DarkStar on this one and if what mastermac1988 posted is true, then my initial assessment was correct. If this was Joe Blow instead of a Big Fish in a small pond, the second run on this story would have had all the details good-bad-and the rest. Loss is loss, no matter the circumstances, just asking where is the fairness line is located. That's all.

BULLFEATHERS Fredoniaguy94!! You were CLEARLY implying a cover-up of some sort on your first post. They never print name sin fatal accidents unless the family has been notified. Nothing weird here at all. Stupid post.

Did you seriously just post that to beat the media to the punch? Is the public's need-to-know so much more important than respect for a family's right to a little privacy before the phone starts ringing and people start showing up at the door? Obviously you've never lost a close family member and wanted desperately for some peace to mourn and grieve in private before everyone else comes to pay their respects. Really ...

Taxpayer42, you're off the point here. The overwhelming majority of these types of events in these towns, regardless of the circumstances, have had complete reporting on the “who-what-where-when” plus a pinch of family matters, where they worked, spent their time….right down to what their favorite hobbies were for the friends and families. The point you’ve missed is where the fairness is in this matter vs. the countless others? I’m not the dirty laundry a-hole you’re attempting to make me out as. So spare us from the “you’ve never lost a close family member…”, BS. It’s too self-revealing.

Where did "brightlight"'s post go mentioning the Levandowski family? Did they yank it because she leaked it first?

FredoniaGuy94,

The paper is allowed to control what content is posted on their site.

Also there is a good chance that enough people hit the "report abuse" button and it was automatically hid, at least that is how it works on larger sites.

Also I'm not sure how deleting the comment is PC in any way shape or form.

The only point I was making was to let the authorities release it first. Who knows why it wasn't released earlier. I wasn't referring to the big fish, little fish comments. My point simply is, with blogs and twitter and facebook ...etc ...I've heard too many times family members find out via social media first. I think people who post the names are doing it for their own notoriety, like the little kid who always runs to be the first in line. Maybe no names should be published for 24 hrs just to give the families time to cope before sharing their grief with the world ...but I know that will never happen.
